Fly Tying Classes

We have beginner and intermediate fly tying classes and a weekly get together at Dally's Ozark Fly Fisher

Beginner's Fly Tying Class

NAFF annually hosts a beginners flying tying class in January. The class is taught by an experienced fly fisher/tyer, and mentors will be available to help each student ty two of each fly that is taught.

You’ll learn about fly tying tools, materials, and patterns, practice tying your own flies, and receive written instructions for each fly you learn to tie. You’ll also receive lots of fly tying tips from the experts! All tools and materials are provided by North Arkansas Fly Fishers. There are four 2 hour sessions on Monday evenings typically in January.

There will be a fee for the class, and it will include a one-year membership to NAFF.

The class is limited to 10 students, and is typically scheduled on four consecutive Mondays in January. Typically the classes are held in the Ozark Regional Arts Council Conference Room on the second floor at The Sheid.

As future sessions are planned, they will be added to the club's calendar, will be in the newsletter, and an email announcing the class will go out. When the event has been made active on the event calendar, you will be able to register for the class.

Intermediate Fly Tying Class

Once a year NAFF conducts an intermediate fly tying class. It is generally scheduled in February, and is taught by an experienced NAFF member, with the purpose of enhancing your tying ability in a specific discipline. Every year the focus is different to enhance your knowledge and skill.

Hooks and materials are furnished. Students must provide their own vices, tools, and thread. Class is limited to 12 students who should have a beginner’s knowledge of fly ting as to initialing thread on a hook, tying materials and how to whip finish. Our current instructor for the class is Dave Boyer.

Class is free but is limited to NAFF members. Once the class is scheduled, it is announced to the membership, and acceptance is on a first come first served basis.

Another incentive to become a member.
